What This is All About

So many times in life I want to make a purchase (big or small) and I say to myself...."I wish someone would just tell me which one is the best so I can buy that one." For me, it has happened the most with gadget-type purchases, but has even happened with purchases like toasters or clothes. I want to use this blog to help you on your purchasing journey. I figured that I have done some research already and am willing to do more, so why not lend you a helping hand. I also have LOTS of opinions, stories, interesting news articles, etc. that I would love to share with my readers. I hope you enjoy them. PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, OR REVIEWS/RECOMMENDATIONS YOU ARE INTERESTED IN.

The Best Blu-ray Disc Player

The next installment of my home theater reviews is Blu-ray players. Until recently this was a very controversial area of technology. Yes there were many Blu-ray players on the market, but most were inundated with problems ranging from unsupported formats to slow load times. Many would simply go with the most reliable Blu-ray player at the time...the Sony PlayStation 3. I also opted for the PlayStation as my Blu-ray player.

Then Oppo comes along and they have finally brought great quality and reliability into the Blu-ray player market.

The Best

Oppo BDP-83

This Blu-ray player is one of the best players out there. For the price, approximately $500-$600, it can't be beat. Its picture quality is top notch and its sound is second to none. It boasts extremely fast load times and supports every format you can think of including Super Audi CD (SACD). This player is known as the best up-converting player out there in this price range and it will make your traditional DVDs look spectacular. Additionally, it comes with a back lit remote. A very rare commodity in this price range. This player has won every award imaginable and its reviews are perfect. You can safely purchase this player knowing you are truly getting "The Best."

As a side note, Oppo recently released the BDP-83SE. This is an upgraded version of its original player and quite a bit more expensive. I urge you to save your money on this one unless you are a true audiophile who plays audio back in analog mode. If you are planning on running your video/sound through an HDMI cable, for example, you will see NO difference at all.
